Get lost in Rick Riordan's The Battle of the Labyrinth, the fourth book in the Percy Jackson and The Olympians series! Percy is entering ninth grade and aside from the usual monster angst (Hello? It's ninth grade!), he now has to face an a-maze-ing problem, literally AND figuratively! Greek mythology never had a better poster boy! To begin with, Greek myths have some of the best stories ever - loaded with revenge, heroism, treason, and quests for justice - but when they're given a modern twist, they're even more engrossing! So get your hands, hooves, and claws on this book and get lost!

More Tudy Was Framed! photo frames - this time, they're all abloom with Tudy Roses!
In Victorian times (that's when the United Kingdom was ruled by Queen Victoria from 1837 to 1901!), symbols were used to send messages (sort of like emoticons ;->). Even flowers were given meanings, and sometimes the specific color of a flower gave it a different meaning! Like the red rose means love, but the pink rose means admiration, appreciation and even joyfullness!
So surround your favorite photos with the message of the Tudy Roses! Plus, pink gives everyone a rosy glow anyway! You know the drill - download the images, resize to fit the pictures you want framed, and cut out (be careful!). Use a cutter and cutting mat for this project for best results! Get framed!
This is not going to be an easy read, but if you can, please, please, please do read Sue Monk Kidd's The Secret Life of Bees. Or ask your Mom to read it if she hasn't yet! It'll make a perfect Mother's Day read!
First, I think the little notes about honey bees are just amazing, because you know I just love honey bees! But, more importantly, I love this wonderfully written story about 14-year old Lily, who tries to find out who her mom really was, and instead, discovers the true meaning of "Mother" in so many different women and in such a magical place.
Reading the book is like tasting honey - it's sweet, it goes down slowly, and it nourishes your soul!

Take a Tumbler!
Every time you go out for a juice shake, a soda, or a cup of coffee, Take a Tumbler with you and say NO to disposable paper, plastic or styrofoam cups! Request the server to fill-up your tumbler instead! Not only do you help reduce the amount of trash, most shops will actually give you a discount for using your own tumbler! How smart is that?

Even J.K. Rowling said she "adored" The Little White Horse, an old-but-forever kind of fairy story. Written a long time ago by Elizabeth Goudge, it's a classic tale about a feisty young girl who sets out to right a wrong and, in the process, discovers her true worth and her true self. It actually has several stories - the white unicorn, the moon princess, the beautiful valley of Moonacre, and Maria Merryweather's own story - but they all get intertwined and resolved as one. It has a little bit of romance and a lot of adventure, but what else can you expect with a heroine like Maria?
So, on a clear moon-lit night, take the time to read this classic, and discover the magic of the moon princess and The Little White Horse!
I love scrapbooks and photo albums! They keep precious memories safe and close to your heart (which is a Truly Tudy Thing!)! So I'm really excited about my new project - Tah!Dah! - Tudy Photo Frames! I'll be posting Tudy Was Framed! photo frames and mattes every month. You can download the images, resize them, print them, and cut them out (as always, be careful!). The original images fit 4x6 photos, but you can resize them using your computer. And it's best to use a cutter and self-healing cutting mat (which you can get from any craft store) for this project.

A long time ago (in the 1940s!), Flight Lieutenant Roald Dahl, wrote a story about impish creatures that sabotaged air force planes, but really, had their hearts in the right place (they were just trying to protect their forests from those "giant tin birds"!). The story was so whimsical and perfect for the time, Walt Disney and Dahl got together to make an animated movie about them.
Dahl's story revolved around Gremlin Gus and his friends, who, at first, confounded, harassed, and befuddled the British air force pilots. Well, what goes around, comes around. Eventually, the gremlins got confounded, harassed, and befuddled (nothing Initial Training School and used postage stamps couldn't do!). They ended up working FOR the Royal Air Force.
But then, the gremlins got into the act (again!). Confounded, harassed, and befuddled, Disney never made the movie! Instead, a cheeky, funny, and feel-good book - The Gremlins: The Lost Walt Disney Production, was born. Last published in 1943, the book is available again (at The Tudy Book Shop!) for a whole new generation of young readers, gremlins, fifinellas, widgets, and spandules. (Which one of these have you seen @ 10,000 feet? Some flight crews reportedly see widgets all the time.)
So now, are you confounded, harassed, and befuddled? Don't believe in gremlins yet? Think fifinellas are just a figment of a fighter pilot's imagination? Then fasten your seatbelts for a fun read! Stow your doubts away. Let your imagination soar "higher than the highest high!" The Gremlins: The Lost Walt Disney Production is a wonderful, nostalgic blast from the past. It'll have you begging for that window seat. Tally ho, young recruits, tally ho!
Isn't it amazing that the Peace symbol is 50 years old? It was designed in 1958 by Gerald Holtom, a professional, Brit designer. He designed it for the Easter march of the Direct Action Committee Against Nuclear War. Today, his design is the universal symbol for Peace.
You know what's really cool though? The symbol is based on semaphoric or flag signals for the letters N and D (It's true! It's true! I Googled it!). In a semaphore, N is formed by a person holding two flags in an inverted V. The letter D, on the other hand, is morphed by holding one flag pointing up and the other, pointing down. When you superimpose and encircle these two signals, you get the Peace sign! An ace design, indeed, and if you ask me, quite smashing, really!
So, go ahead, wear the talk! Mean what you say and wear what you mean. It's a Tudy thing. And while you're at it, here's a special Tudy T to celebrate the occasion.
